“Operational Readiness” may be a state that is moved toward incrementally by performing tasks and creating deliverables throughout the Project Life Cycle. An Operational Readiness Assessment ensures the operating environment is ready to effectively support and accept the changes resulting from the project. The assessment helps determine the readiness state of the “receive” organization and defines how close this environment is to the specified readiness state.

The Operational Readiness Process will guide your organisation to use as your progress from new plant project approval to safe, steady state operation. It is designed to be the one overarching document that will help pull together and integrate the entirety of industry experience, guidance, and more detailed reference material pertaining to production plant operation.

The Operational Readiness Framework will assist the leadership team get smarter, faster on topics important to the pursuit of safe and efficient plant operation. It is hoped that accelerated understanding leads to higher quality levels of operational readiness and the achievement of such in a timelier and cost-effective manner.

The framework will answer several important questions, to include:

• What is important? What are my priorities?
• Where are we going? What are we trying to achieve in the end?
• When must we get there? How long do we have to prepare?
• How will I get there? What does the journey to operational readiness look like?
• What help exists for our team? Who can we reach out to?
• What lessons learned and opportunities exist to help guide our efforts?
• How will the industry evaluate our performance?

The framework provides answers to these questions and more. It should both inform you and serve as a prompt to ask even more questions.
